Keeping chickens cool this summer.

When I bought my chickens I signed up for the hatcheries new letter.  Well in this weeks news letter I found some interesting articles and one was on keeping your chickens cool.  So I will share the link to it here.  I had read you should not feed chickens corn in the summer as it takes a lot to digest corn thus causing their bodies to heat up.

This article points out how it is a good idea to add  vitamins and electrolytes in the drinking water.  They really like cold water too so I try to change mine at least a couple of times.  Plus I put up some extra shade for my chickens which they love.  These are one of the best laying hens for brown eggs so the care of them is important.  Raising baby chicks with care will result in a healthy hens a the best quality eggs.
