Now for months all my chicks look like they were hens but suddenly just last month tail feathers have gotten longer, as well as on the neck. Colors have increased and their dominate side is coming out.
Jeffery to me is my prettiest rooster out of the six or is it going to be more roosters I have. I am in a way disappointed as I got my chicks for hens and then eggs so now I am hoping I have hens. Ops, I have some that seem to be but then I see a tail feather getting longer and I think were can I go to get mature hens? My chicks were from a start run which I took to mean that they were not sexed just got what you got but who would think I would have so many roosters?
They are beautiful though my other rooster take more from the blue instead of the red as Jeffery seems to favor. They are Blue and Red Lace Wyandottes and I got them from McMurray Hatchery check they out if you are interested in growing some of your own chickens.
I am surprised how big and, for a young one he hatch in the April, Jeffery is a heavy rooster. I brought him inside for a photo.
Now this is a shot of what was Lacy the Red and Blue Lace Wyandotte hen that really would be Jeffery the Red headed rooster. I could not keep him with his head up as he was curious of what my shoe lace was all about but he is four months old and has just started developing long silky and very shiny feathers and his tail feathers are taking on a long and lacy look. His crest is still flat to the head but is about half an inch across. See the blue around his neck with also some red on one side. I am hoping for quiet roosters so that I can keep him as he is a beauty.
He is now in a coop I bought from Wayfair along with three hens. This is the coop I built from Wayfair. I had wanted to add it to the other coop and run but the roof was slanted and I was not sure if it would line up without leaving it unsafe so decided to just separate them. It was hard the first two days but they are happier now and are not to far from the others. I have a chicken corner ranch with just enough room to work and to allow good air flow.
I would check Wayfair out as they are quick to ship and send a top rate products.
